I am looking for rear fender braces for my 1939 jc 1/2 ton pickup. Previous discussions on this site leads me to believe that the rear fenders for the 1939 pickup are different than those those associated with 1938 and 1940. I checked with the Filling Station, Jim Carter and Chevys of the 40's with no luck. Apparently the fender widths are different which leads me to believe that is also the case with the fender braces. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Jim Carter should have them. I have the NOS brackets he used to copy for his reproductions. I'll call him tomorrow. You are correct, the '39 fender is one year only. It is totally different from the '37/'38 and differs from the '40/'46 by being about 1-1/2 inch wider. The bed was widened from 45 inches in 1939 (and earlier) to 48 inches in 1940. They took the extra width out of the fenders so the overall width of the truck stayed the same.

Mike Thanks for responding to my request in locating rear fender braces for my 1939 pickup. I tried to contact Jim Carter but was unsuccessful. I then assumed that since I could not find that item when I tried to search on his web site, he did not have any. I certainly appreciate your help in contacting jim Carter and look forward to seeing how you make out. Again I appreciate your efforts in trying to locate this item for me.

Call by telephone and ask for him directly. I talked to him regarding the fender brace for a 1939 chevrolet pickup. He has braces for 37 and 38 and 40 to 46. The 39 is different as explained in detail by mike in his 12/15 response to me. Jim is not easy to contact but will take time to listen and respond to your questions.
