No progress on the '35 Chevy today, but made time for a long awaited visit. My great uncle, just turned 90 in October, stopped by today to check out progress on my '35 Chevy phaeton. I just brought it back to the shop last week from getting an upholstery makeover and enjoyed my chance to show off the new top and interior! Being an old car buff himself, he enjoyed having a chance to look things over. Considering where I started in March, no rear end, no paint, no seats, no top, its looking much better with the seats re-upholstered and installed, interior side panels redone, a gorgeous new top and of course the new paint job! I was standing next to a lot of history today, considering my uncle was 4 1/2 years old when my 1 of 217 phaetons was built! Just inspiring, that he's still able to drive on his own and still has the interest in looking at antique cars on a cold December day. In good weather, you can often find him taking out his 1920s Ford Model T touring car for a ride! Took a selfie, smiles behind our masks, and I got a great pic of my uncle sitting in the front seat, holding the steering wheel, as a prop at this point. We're not quite ready to take a ride down the road in this sweet machine, but I'm hoping its possible by summer. Here's to more steady progress!
