Guys,

This is most likely a dumb question. I can not remember the bypass position of the heat riser valve in the exhaust manifold. logical it would seam when the control arm is in the horizontal position with the cable pulled, it's allowing the exhaust gases to heat the intake. With the arm in the down position, the heat control cable would be all the way in allowing the bypass. When you pull the heat cable to the out position the heat riser valve should be open?

Is this correct? Sorry for the silly question....

When the heat cable is pulled it divers exhaust gas directly under the carburetor. If left that way too long it will begin to boil the gasoline in the carburetor float bowl. Most of the time the arm on the heat riser should be in the down position.
