Working on a 1929 Chevy with a Hercules Body. Looking for information on the 1918 Hercules Deluxe Body.
The Truck was disassembled when we got it. Looking for interior pictures or any sale brochures.
Interested in talk to anyone who has restored one of these bodies.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I've got a '28 Hercules Canopy Express body on my '28 1/2 ton truck. Some of the wood is original and some was replaced by the previous owner. I'd be happy to take some pics for you.

Attached are a couple of photos from the 1928 Hercules catalog. Both have the word Deluxe in the title. It looks like one is made for the 1 1/2 ton truck chassis and the other is a body that can go onto a roadster body.

The entire catalog resides online in our Member Only area in the list of Technical Articles off the main VCCA website. Accessing those articles is one of the many, many benefits of becoming a member of the club. Other bennies are being able to use the forum's Search Function, looking up members that might have a similar vehicle to yours, and getting a monthly, award-winning magazine that is always a good read. ;-)

Cheers, Dean

A few years ago someone had listed one of the 1070 models for sale. I had thought at the time it might have been somewhat homemade because it had the roadster embossed lines on the body and looked like an old fashioned "C" cab. I wouldn't have thought there would have been such a truck made commercially that new (27/28). Your Hercules catalog is a great source of information to decode the past. Thank you for posting it. Dean

Thanks for the information. I had seen the 1928 Hercules catalog in the Tech section.
I am looking for more details in the construction of the floor, side panels and seat frame.
My body had plywood for the floor. I don't know if this was original, many of the photos I see
the floors are like a truck bed with planks and metal hold down strips. Like I said before the truck was disassembled
so have nothing to go by. I have figured out most of the piece but there are still some pieces I'm not sure.

Thanks for the reply
Steve

Hi again,

There are some pages in the Hercules catalog that talk about the body construction and show some pics. There is also a picture of the underside of the seat cushions. I used this visual info to make seat cushions for my '28.

Cheers, Dean
