Hi Gents,
Does the 29 Chevy have rubber mounts or should the motor be bolted directly onto the frame?
Mine seems to have about 1/4 inch webbing between the mounting and the frame.
Is this correct? This puts the motor very close to the fire wall.
Regards
Chris

The '29 engine crankshaft is not counterbalanced. Even though six cylinders are somewhat inherently balanced they still vibrate more than is acceptable with flexible mounts. So they are bolted directly to the frame which absorbs much of the vibration. The 1932 six cylinders do have a counterbalanced crankshaft. If you use piston/rod assemblies with the same weight as the factory they are smooth running engines.

mine was mounted directly to the frame at 3 points.

when I reinstall the drivetrain I plan to do the same with the correct hardware per the MPPL

My 1929 is also bolted to the frame and I kept it the same after the engine was rebuilt.

Thanks Gents,
Much appreciated.
Apologies for the late reply. Life just got in the way and I have not logged in for a while.
Compliments of the season, merry Christmas and wishing you a better 2021 than what we have come to know as the ”˜ new norm’
