Hi,

I just picked up my 1954 Chevy Belair 6 cyl with 3 speed trans and am still waiting on my manual for the car.

Can anyone tell me where the gearbox is located? I would like to change the oil in it but can not find it.

I am thinking there is only one plug to fill and one to drain?
Is there another fluid that should be changed in the gearbox area?

Thanks!

The transmission is the big iron casting at the front of the drive shaft. Ti dring remove the bottom square pipe plug. To fill remove the ppe plug on the sde.
Filll to the bottom of the fill plug.
It will take 1 1/2 pints of the same gear oil as the differential.
The engine will take 5 Qts. of 10W-30 oil.

Would a monitor be so kind as to delete my post that appears above. It's too late for me to do it.

It was written in haste and never should have been posted. I knee-jerked and made light of a situation without proper consideration of questioner.

I regret posting it.

Best,
