Guys'

I'm installing the firewall pad and insulation on my 32 sedan. I know 1/4-20 bolts hold the the material in place through the firewall. My question is, was there a wide flat washer on the inside that keeps the bolt head from pulling through? I assume there is. Is it metal or fiber or something else? Are there suggestion on what to use?

Thanks again for any assistance.

Steve

Not sure of the original set up but I used fender washers on the inside. Some of the attaching bolts I have installed with the head on the cowl side-such as the coli mtg bolts.

here are 2 photos i have of a friends 31 under dash, the black material is curling and pulling away, pretty brittle, then you can see the burlap underneath it. you can see the hardware used to hold it in, not sure if original, but a lot of his car is untouched unless an issue occurred. his dad has owned it since the 50's
