What is the running board from a 1927 chevrolet touring made of? The car I am working on has wood in place of the running board. I have a 28 parts car with metal running boards covered in rubber. Are the 28s same as the 27s? If they are the same and I can use the 28 boards, what can I use to replace the rubber covering? Thanks in advance.

Hi 340duster,

Here in Australia the early 1927 Chevrolets with the 26 style distributor and RXO carby and small valves in the head all had timber running boards with the rubber on top and late in 1927 when the change occurred to the later carby and 28 style distributor and big valves in the head they also went to the full metal running boards and the rubber was stuck to the metal. The 1928 boards are longer and will not fit.

Thanks for the reply. This is a Canadian car, not sure if that matters. I have not measured them for length but I will for sure. That might be the difference right there.
