I apologize if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there is a cataloging of topics here? I sometimes feel intimidated when I asked a question and received a "retort" type answer because I missed a previous thread from a year ago. Thank you

Have you tried looking into the Forum Help or the Search at the top of this page. I'm not sure if that is what your looking for.

Hello and welcome to VCCA Chat.
The scenario you describe is not unique to this forum. I participate in multiple car forums and see this frequently.
You are correct that the forums are not highly cataloged so it is difficult to retrieve prior information. Even more confusing in this forum is that sub-forums are not mutually exclusive. For example, electrical problems could be listed in either the electrical section or vehicle year section.
There is a search function for this forum and it does a reasonable job of finding information.
I actually have better results simply doing a Google search on the subject and include “VCCA” in the search string. The results will definitely get you headed in the right direction. At a minimum the information will help you better ask your question.
My experience is that the major search engines are far superior to any search function embedded in any forum.

I agree Rusty on the search engine process you are using but I think because it allows the user to go directly to a post it bypasses the information for use of the site. Most likely the reason we get so many post regarding "how do I post a photo" . I don't think there is any way to redirect those who are not registered users to the "Welcome page" but It would probably help if we could.

For folks who are not VCCA members, the only way to search the forums is to use an outside search engine like Google. Only VCCA members can use the embedded Search Function that is part of the forums. The Search Function is kind of clunky, but after you get practiced in focusing your search criteria, it does a pretty decent job. Here's a write-up I did on how to use the search function: Chatter Search Function hints and tipsCheers, Dean
