Rescued a 36 Standard 5 window coupe that was an old gasser. My plan is to bring it back to the way it was when it was raced in the 60s. It still has the tool tray in the trunk so I got to thinking it might be cool to try to compile a factory tool kit for it just for fun. Not wanting to pay silly prices for any of it but one of my favorite ways to pass the time at flea markets is digging through piles of $2 rusty tools looking for hidden treasure. My problem is that no matter where I search I can't seem to find any pictures of what the factory tool kit tools look like from the 36 or so time period.

Try looking in your local library for old news paper ads from 1936 on microfilm or microfiche. There are old ads on web sites from different libraries, too. Don't forget University Libraries.

There was a gentleman that did a lot of research on tools and had a site with drawings and pictures of tools. I think he went by The Toolman on this site. My link to his site no longer works. Maybe someone else has a current link?

G&D magazine had an informative article about factory tool kits, maybe around 2017 or so.....
