Nothing is broken - as Gene said, those two hoops on the bottom of the seat drop into the two depressions in the floor. Friction, the seat back, and the arm rests all help to keep the cushion in place. If the car was struck from the front or rear, the cushion would stay in place. If the car was struck so hard that the seat cushion was dislodged, the car would likely be a mangled wreck so it wouldn't matter by then. If you rolled the car, the arm rests would keep the cushion from travelling too far. Keep in mind, when these cars were new, safety features were not the touted features the public wanted to hear about. Adding secure seat belts and shoulder harnesses is a fantastic idea. The rear seat cushion is a minor worry. If your Styleline is a 2 door, I'd be more concerned over the front doors flying open and the front seat backs flying forward and pushing you against the steering wheel in a front-end collision.
I drove a '51 Styleline 2 door from 1959 until about 2012 or so, and Brewster (who posts on here) is running it now. And, amazingly, I'm still alive, with all my body parts too, to talk about it!!
