Just got my coupe back from the body shop, base/clear jet black and she's stunning. I put aftermarket smooth steel running boards on before the paint, but I really like the way the rubber mats keep the retro look, so I'm looking for a practical way to lay them on the boards so they'll stay put at speed. I've read that some adhesives will lift paint, so that's why I'm now asking. I'm sure this topic may have been discussed before, but I can't find it. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated.

I use 3M Contact Cement. Works great if applied correctly. Most adhesives will lift paint. But once the mats are on they won't come off.
