The Carb on my 35 standard seems to be draining into my engine when not running.
Any ideas?

Yes, it is normal with todays gas....called evaporation.There is no way for gas to drain out of the bowl unless it has a hole in it or the car is up-side-down.If it is happening when the engine is hot and shut off it may be perculation.Also common with modern gas.Will be worse if the heat riser is stuck in the "hot" position. There was a discussion of this about two weeks ago.Perhaps if you do a search you will find it.

This is not normal, I cant imagine that the gas evaporates in 2 hours and besides the oil smells like gas also the carb is new.

Check your carb float for setting too low from sticking, gas logged or mis-set or any other reason the needle and seat does not shut off.
34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

Check for a sinking float.

One reason for checking the fuel pump diaphram is that in case it is punctured it could let fuel into the inside of the engine and your oil could smell like gasoline.

If I understand correctly a hole in the diaphram could leak fuel into the crank case and by doing this could also syphon fuel from the fuel line between the pump and he carb.

Fuel could run back down the line from the fuel pump up to the entrance to the carburetor. IT WILL NOT SIPHON FUEL OUT OF THE FUEL BOWL. The fuel in the fuel line would likely end up mixed with the oil in the crankcase.
