When I got my 3/4 ton the lock knob on the drivers door was missing.
So I ordered one from one of the reputable parts suppliers, but had some issues putting it on.
The shaft on the door is 1/4 inch square with straight sides and a 6-32 threaded hole in the end. The square hole in the knob is actually tapered, but doesn't tighten onto the shaft until long after it is actually rubbing and binding on the door panel.
I found a way to make it work by wedging an M3 washer down into the tapered hole in the knob, and tightening it onto the shaft with a phillips screw and toothed lock washer.
My questions are:
How was this originally supposed to be attached?
Was the screw supposed to be a "clutch head" screw?
Would a knob from a different supplier fit differently?
