VCCA Home Forums TECHNICAL - GENERAL Electrical - 6 volt Help with 6v convertible top motor wiring

I just purchased a 6V convertible top motor from topsdown.com they send a switch with the motor.. I'm unsure how to wire the switch to run the motor. I running this in 1951 Chevy convertible.

I've included pictures of the original motor which has 3 wires and the original switch.

Also the new motor has 2 wires and then the switch. any help would be appreciated.

I'm not very savy when it comes to electrical.

In the picture it looks to me like the new switch has all yellow wires, then it won’t matter which wire you hook to from the motor. The way it works is down one wire is hot and the other is ground and up the switch will reverse the hot and ground. The only thing that would make a difference is the way the switch operates for up and down, the way it mounts in the dash.

Dens41, Thank you. Is there a way to run the motor to the original switch that was already installed?

Sorry I'm still a little confused the yellow wire gets attached to the positive wire?

One yellow to the red and one to the black, the switch then changes the polarity of the motor depending which way the switch is on. Did the new pump come with any instructions? I am assuming the pump has to change direction to run the top up or down.

Dens41 came with basic instructions nothing in regards to the switch. Same instructions are posted on their website. I appreciate your help.
