what year did defroster vents appear on pickups, panels & carryall suburbans, please

From what I can find 1939.

While cruise nights haven't "officially" re-started in this neck of the woods, hobbyists gather informally. I dropped by one Wednesday evening in my '39 Suburban, and was informed by another attendee that my '39 "has a '40 dash because it is fitted with defroster vents".

I thanked him for that and also thank you for your input.

The 1939 dash has the small round instruments and the 1940 has the horizontal retangular speedometer.

yes, my '39 has round gauges and '46 pickup has horizontal gauges. Is comforting to know that there's always a helpful Chev Nut out there. Thx again
