Is the water pump engine color or cast iron on a 1964 Impala with 283?

Also The long alternator adjusting bracket that is bolted to the water pump is orange.

Thanks, Gene,Jon and Mike. The other alternator brackets were black. My son and I are restoring a 64 IMPALA SS that had 38000 miles and much of the car had not been touched. It is a strange SS. 283, 3 spd with od. No ps.pb or ac, single speed wiper, no washers. The only accessory is a radio and rear speaker. Since he lives in Atlanta, we are adding ac,ps,pb.

Are there any VCCA members in the Atlanta area? My son is a retired VOYA executive and has limited car knowledge. But he is learning a lot . Also, is there a VCCA roster? As a long time CORVAIR CORSA member, I used our roster often.

Also The long alternator adjusting bracket that is bolted to the water pump is orange. Starting in '64, that adjusting brace wasn't shipped attached to the water pump. It was mounted to a boss on the intake manifold and was black. Verne
