My stock 3 speed trans is leaking from where an idler shaft fits into the trans case. After driving, it will leave a small pool of fluid with a diameter about the size of the base of a 12 oz beer bottle. Any ideas on how to attack this without removing trans? Perhaps a lubricant product less prone to leak than the universal all-season 80/90 currently used? Perhaps some external silicone sealant? Any advice/thoughts welcome, thanks Bob

MY Thoughts are clean off all traces of oil and seal with JB Weld.

If you can get to it then ping the hole plug some more. Other than that, Gene's advice may work. As hard as it, you may have to remove the transmission. Best and good luck, Charlie

You could also just replace the cover if it is damaged. You may not need to pull the trans. to do this? I can do it pretty easily on my 41. It would also be a good way to check for a lot of wear on the cover parts and to examine the condition of the internal gears. etc. I have all the parts for this repair. Good luck, Mike Transmission Parts Diagram
