Does anyone know the backspacing of the 16" wheels for the 41 master deluxe. I do not have the original wheels for my car and I am having a hard time finding the right wheels. Any help would be much appreciated.
This era wheel rim is getting very hard to find and quite pricey. I accumulated at least 9 wheel rims to find 4 that could be balanced. I put the 2 best on my front. My spare could not be balanced. You need to verify that the rim is balanceable before paying big bucks for one. I would not consider any purchase without first having it checked. It is common to find them with obvious bends on their outer rims and deeply pitted. Someday, folks will be forced to find a way to bend them back and rebalance them. Ebay is a good source but here is a lot of what you will find. How can you repair the heavily rusted out tire valve hole? Wheel Rim.
An alternative that looks the same are the 60 era Chevy/GM pickup rims. They measure 16 1/4" by 7" and easily accommodate radial or tubeless tires. I have 6 in very good condition with 1 already sandblasted. If interested let me know.
Any good wheel shop should be able to straighten bends, especially if minor. If completely clobbered maybe not, but it is still worth asking if you can't find good wheels easily. I have had steel wheels straightened at Sound Wheel (Bellevue WA) with excellent results.
