Production numbers published for 1955/56/57 seem to vary depending on the publication. Given the high level of interest in Nomad of that era, I find this difficult to understand. Does anyone know why and do you have reliable numbers for 1955, 1956 & 1957, please & thankyew

Seems no T-Fs are paying attention or willing to disclose interest,

Probably polishing the nomad as Fleetliners are apt to do day in and day out.

You and they should throw a party. Have some tea and scones, old chap. You know.Agrin:

There were 8386 1955 Nomads made, 7886 1956 models and 6103 1957s. They were the lowest production body styles for each of those years.
As a Nomad owner I am glad to say their value continues to go up each year where as the more common hard top and convertible styles have leveled off.

In a 1975 article in Old Cars Weekly, contributor R. Perry Zavitz discussed Big Three output for 1957 and stated:

"Chevrolet sustained a 6.1% drop in production. With a total of 1,522,549 cars, Chevrolet still outproduced Ford but by a mere 141 cars".

Have read elsewhere that the '57 Ford outsold '57 Chevrolet. Could one source be referring to model year and another to calendar year production?

That is correct. Model year VS production year.
In 1957 a Chevrolet was not a big seller.....hard to believe today.
The 1957 Ford and Plymouth were all new low wide long cars and Chevrolet was just a face lift of the 1955 and 1956 models, which by the way handily out sold the Ford in 1955 and 1956.
I often wondered what would have happened if the 1958 style would have been introduced by Chevrolet in 1957..

Sorry I just saw this thread. I've been busy working on my 3 (yes 3) Nomads. The numbers above from Chev Nut look right to me. And yes Ford outsold Chevrolet in 1957. Today 1957 Chevy is THE iconic classic car and I can count the number of '57 Fords I've seen in the last 5 years on one finger. Oh well, got to get back to the Nomads. BTW the Chevy Nomad Association would welcome anyone who's interested. If you're in Florida let me know. I'm president of the Florida Nomad Club.
