My 30 does not have the original distributor. It has a Delco Remy 644 D 73874. Does anyone know what year (or years) that is? It desperately needs a new distributor gear. Thank you

644D is for a 1933 Chev. It is the first year with a vacuum advance.
I have a complete used 644D distributor. I believe it is in good shape, but don't recall specifically checking the drive gear.
Let me know if you might need it and I'll take some pictures.

Maybe your distributor gear problem is because you have the wrong distributor? You need a 633G. Before getting another 644 you should verify if it will work. Hoping the cam gear is okay?

Hi Steve. Here are some pictures of my 644D distributor. It appears to be in good shape and the shaft turns freely.

I don't know if the gear is the same as you need for a 1930. The teeth do not show much wear so I think it could be used.
The gear will rotate on the shaft for a short distance so perhaps the mounting pin or the pin hole in the shaft is worn, but there is no external evidence of damage or looseness of the pin and I haven't tried to take it apart.

Let me know if interested. I'll sell the complete distributor as shown for $35 plus $15 for USPS priority shipping.

Here are a few 633G distributors. Looks like your 644 has a groove cut in the body and the grease cup is in a different spot. You can see the wear in the gears is in a hour glass shape, worst on the bottom.
