Hey all;I have a problem with my tranny in my '46. If for any reason I have to stop quick in third and I hit the brakes hard before I get the clutch in, the tranny gets locked in third and the only way I can get it out of third id to get the car moving in third by riding the clutch. It only has to move about 6m and its good to go. Any ideas to look for. I'm tearing it down tonite for a rebuild. Just need a heads up. Thanks.

Cheers!!!

Do you still have the vacuum assist. One small problem with the system is that the vacuum hose to the intake manifold has a tendency to get hard and stiff. This affects the operation of the vacuum unit. The solution is to replace the hose with a new and flexable hose.

The vacuum assist was still operational and seemed to be working ok. Although the hose was stiff as it had never been replaced. I will be replacing it along with the boot as I have a NOS assembly to install. Would there be any other reason the tranny is doing this as in slop in the linkage or internally. Thanks for your reply Ray. I appreciate it.

You may want to check your engine mounts as worn mounts will affect the linkage movement.

Well you could be right there. I think the answer is going to be all of the above. I am doing a body off restoration and I am currently painting the motor and tranny. I want to put in new seals and bearings in the tranny so while I have it apart to paint I figured I might as well check it out. The front motor mounts where pretty well shot when I pulled the engine. And one side mount was broke. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate all the suggestions.
