I managed to find a NOS in the box correct battery for my un-restored 1960 Corvair (type 557A). It has never had a drop of liquid of any kind it. It's located just outside Detroit from a private individual and I'm in west central Florida. Any suggestions on how to ship it? I thought UPS might be the best but don't know for sure. Best case scenario would be if someone was headed south to this area.

Since it has never had acid in it, you should be able to ship it with any carrier. Just make sure it gets packaged well as it will still be heavy and fragile.

On the shipping paperwork you do NOT want to call it a "Battery" since it's only looks like a battery but does not have any acid. Batteries get complicated for shipping but this is a plastic box with metal internal plates.

I would call it a " vintage automotive display item" on the paperwork.
