Just purchased in a group of NOS parts but unable to identify in my parts books: 5.511 9781862 Plate and Disc Unit. Any help in identifying this part appreciated.

I find the number in the '71 Price Schedule and again in the '65-73 parts history as replacing p/n 9776795 in 04-67. It is listed as used on Chevrolet and Pontiac.

According to my '66 parts book it is listed as:
65-66 CORVETTE (2nd design)
65-66 G-10 (2nd design)
65-66 Ser. 10 w/3.73 (2nd design) (exc. 4/WD)
65-66 PASS (2nd design)......PLATE UNIT, w/discs (Eaton)

The same book lists p/n 9776795 as:
64-65 CORVETTE
65 PASS (1st design),
65 Ser. 10 w/3.73 ratio (1st design) (exc. 4/WD)
65 G-10......PLATE UNIT, w/disc (Eaton EDS 22159)
Note: Consists of 10 eared discs and 8 splinded discs.

It may fit later models but I don't have a passenger book after '66 until '73 when it apparently had been discontinued.

Chipper, thanks for the info.It looks like # 9776795 has been replaced by #483722 and it applies to 64-73 Corvette and 65-75 pass.

You never know what to expect when you by parts without looking at them.
