Hi Guys,
Glad I found this place as I'm working on a 32 Chevy 4 door Confederate BA and I'm sure I'll have many questions... the wood questions will come later i'm sure.
I've had my car for over 20 years, worked on it a lot several years ago, but family, work and other things took my time. Now, kids are grown and I'm ready to get back to work.
Anyway .. my question. I bought two headlights at a swap meet a few years back and was told by the seller, he "thought" they were 32 truck lights but wasn't sure.
Now i'm looking at getting the wire conduits and I see that the 32 car conduits are different than 32 Truck conduits (basically are 31 if my understanding is correct). My question .. how can I tell if my lights are indeed 32 truck or 32 car lights?

Thanks a bunch!

The '32 passenger headlights are chrome plated bullet shaped. The '31 passenger are wedged shape with rounded back and raised area near the rim and lens. The '31-'32 truck headlights are the the same shape as the '31 passenger but painted black and not chrome plated.

Thanks Chipper! From your description and some googling pictures they are definitely not 31's. Mine are deeper and more rounded bullet shape like the 32, but are not chromed. They were painted black, which I've already stripped off to repair the small dings in them. If ALL 32's were chrome, maybe ... if they're truck lights ..could they be 33 truck? I don't have a picture uploaded anywhere but these look exactly like what i have. ~ Thanks

I don't know truck lights but if theses are 9" wide and 7" deep they sure look like 34-35 Standards.

Interesting .. that is roughly what mine measure, hard to tell on a curved surface but close enough. Thanks Jonjet!

I"m trying to avoid buying the wrong conduit and since most places are online, trying to avoid ordering the wrong ones and having the hassle of returning them.
thanks again!

I believe that the buckets have a nut that secures it to the crossbar. The ones in the picture look like a ball socket with no threads.

The headlamps pictured are 33 and if plain steel would be for a truck. Not sure if that would make them 34 truck lights as the trucks used previous year parts. The 32 car headlamps had a mounting plate on the bottom with 4 rivets to attach the bucket. In 33 they used 6 rivets and the plate is inside the bucket.

Is that a nut on the end of the stud in the picture?

Yes it is what I call an acorn nut and the lamp sits on an arm that has a ball shaped end.

I still say it's a 34-35 Standard. Maybe one of the "Experts" can correct me.

I am not familiar with the 34-35 std . Check this Ebay listing 143520120422 I did not see the raised portion of the retaining ring at the top which the 33 Master/Eagle used. Did the 33-34 Std also have that?

I agree with Jonjet. Almost certainly 1933-35 Std.

The 33 Master had that on the Trim Ring, I don't know if the 33 Standard did or not, probably not. The 34-35 Standards did not.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the time and input. So it seems my light are most likely 33stand or 34 truck. Good enough I can work with that. thanks for the help!
