My '38 Master has brown knobs, not ivory. My throttle cable broke, so I would like to put my old knob on a new cable. I have tried soaking it in hot water, but it hasn't budged! Any ideas? How long do I need to let it soak?

You might need to use water that is up around 140 degrees. Most hot water heaters are set to produce no more than 120 degree water to protect people from burns.

I let mine soak about 10 minutes.

I put mine in hot water, then clamped the cable in the vice and carefully pried the knob off, it wasn't too hard to do. Good luck!
