Could someone please help me with how the oil pump on and early 1916 490 is assembled plus how the pipes connect to the 2 feeds on the side of the sump.

Could really do with some help please guys. Thanks.

Here is the only illustration from my 490 repair manual. At least it shows the pipe connections.

A belated thanks for the illustration. My oil pump is side mounted on the block and has 2 pistons operated from the cam. Looks like I a going to have to use a later remote oil pump and suck / feed to the sump as required.

Hi Skinlizzie, There are a few slight differences in the 1916 Chevy plunger oil pump but they all work the same off the camshaft. They tend to loose prime when not started for a while so makes sure that the plungers or inside of the pump are not worn at the stop start mark inside or your pump will struggle to get prime. I will try and work out how to post a picture of the pump piping on my 1916 Chev Roadster for you.
