A '25-'26 radiator shell just sold for $2650 on Ebay at the last few seconds. It was at $880 set by the eventual winning bidder who must had placed a bid around $3,000. In the last few seconds someone bid $2,600 and that pushed the bid up to $2,650. At that price I'm almost tempted to take mine off my car and put a starting bid of $2,500. I wouldn't be surprised to see it relisted next week for non-payment.

Are you referring to the price or the method Ebay uses?

Do you happen to have the link to the auction or the item number? I'd like to see some pictures and details about it.
Honestly, the price doesn't seem crazy if it was a really nice aluminum piece without much or any oxidation. I've never seen a nice one for sale and a lot of them rotted out on the bottom like my '26.

Haase go to Ebay: Enter 1925-1926 Chevrolet NOS Radiator Shell . Then scroll down the left column to completed items and check that box. It will come up automatically. It is a NOS shell. Steve

Steve- Doubt if this was a NOS shell, likely a NORS. I bought one many years ago from the guy (now deceased) that was making them. He had the last two left and I bought one. Wishing now I had bought the other. Roger

I agree Roger... My car was restored back in the mid 80's and it is like new. Not corrosion at all. So I guess they were available as NORS then. Steve

If this eBay shell is a recreation, it looks to have incredibly quality... Almost as if it was made in a press. There is a faint line or seam that's visible on the driver's side interior; hinting it's multiple pieces.
Does anyone know how the originals were manufactured?

If you look on the inside there seems to be a lot of pitting, probably from surface rust. My guess would be it has been re-chromed. Nice job, though.

Arend the '25 & '26 shells were aluminum not chrome plated.

I have posted to this 25- 26 Radiator issue before, so hopefully I won't be chastised for weighing in again. The rad shells made north of the U.S. border in Canada for passenger cars, were steel with nickel plating as were the headlight bezels. The commercial vehicles were steel painted black as in the U.S.. It would be interesting to know, and I've wondered, if a U.S. built car would lose points in an official judging if it bore a nickel/steel shell when it originally came with an aluminum one even though they were both factory G.M. products. It would seem reasonable that vehicles exported outside of North America would have come with whatever the exporting country was providing. FYI...…...Joe.

Good point Joe. I've got some Canadian owner's and parts manuals and I've noticed some things are different. This shell may be one of them. But for $2,650.00 it better be solid gold.... lol
