I have a 53 half ton 3100. Converted to 12 volt many years ago. It was idling fine and just cut off. Now I cant get it started. I have spark, even replaced the coil. seem to be getting gas, looked down the down draft carb with the throttle open and I can see fuel in the float bowl? I even poured some gas into the carb. She turns over fine with a fully charged battery but just wont fire. I don't know a lot about points etc and am looking for any suggestion people may have. Is it normal to see fuel like that or is my carb clogged.
thanks for any help.

Sounds like it might be flooded. Dirt in needle valve or the float sinking.

Try using some ether to see if it fires at all. If it does, the issue is likely fuel system. If it doesn't the issue is likely electrical.

When I test the new coil it tests at 3.4 across the positive and negative and 7.95 from positive to center. shouldn't that read at least 12?
thanks again

If the points are closed the coil will only test at a fraction of the battery voltage. If the points are open or have an insulating piece between the points it should test near battery voltage. If less there is a short. If the voltage is okay it doesn't mean the coil is good.
