Hi, i´m currently restoring my 48` clock. I would like to replace my broken clock handles, but i don´t know how to remove the center knob to exchange the handles. Is it just screwed or is there a special trick?

pull out the knob like your gonna adjust the time and grab onto the small shaft with needle nose pliers then unscrew (counter clockwise).

conv48,

Good advice.

Heck fire, I thought he was talking about the hour and minute hands rather than the winding/adjusting knob. I'm getting too old.

Hi, sorry for my late response wavey

Indeed, my question was for the big center knob which holds the two clock handles, not for the smaller time adjustment knob.

I´ve two new clock handles, but i didn´t see how i get the center knob out for the handle exchange...

Silver81,

Did you ever get this figured out? I’m stuck at the exact same spot you were in your picture above. I also have 2 new hands/handles, and struggling to find any good info on this.

Hi, up to now i didn´t get more info or some progress... Maybe i wil disassembly an old clock to see how the handles can be removed on a good clock.
