Hello, I have a 1936 chey P U & the grd wire for the horn broke off inside the steering coluum; About 1&1/2” from the top of the coluum there is a collar topped with a brass ring. How do I get the collar out to repair it or could I just solder the wire to the brass ring?Thx for your help. olgzer

If you are lucky you can remove the "mast jacket bushing" by pushing it out with a broom stick, piece of pvc pipe or similar. It will be necessary to remove the mast jacket (tube surrounding the steering shaft. If the device to push it out contacts much of the bushing and you don't hammer it the bushing can come out. It was originally made with fairly flexible rubber that probably has hardened so breaking is a risk. Don't fret is that happens. The bushing has been reproduced and available from the Filling Station and Jim Carter Truck Parts. Make sure you measure the distance from the top of the mast jacket to the brass plate before removing so you can install the same distance. That way the horn button legs will contact the brass plate correctly.
