Owing to the fact that the horn bearing has no wire on a 41 but has a wire going up the column, what then does the wire hook to?

I have never had any problems with my 41 horns so I need some educating here. I just need to know how the wire and bearing all work together.

Any hep would be appreciated.

The horn bearing on a 41 DOES have a wire soldered to it. The wire goes down the mast and out a hole on the side of the mast about a foot from the bottom of the mast. The wire then goes to the horn relay. If you need more educating then do a SEARCH of past posts.

Good luck, Mike

Anyone but Mike,

How come the wire doesn't come with the bearing?

BTW: I had to exclude Mike on account of ... well you know; that "search thing." We may meet someday, and I hope we do, so I don't to rattle his chain none. He's a great guy. Is too! dance

I often wondered that also.

The one I bought from Chevs of the 40s (part #264887) did have a wire attached, but it was not long enough to reach the relay.

My parts book 29-50 does not indicate a wire for group 6.521 bearing, mast jacket for 39-48. Just the bearing Part number: 264887.

Group 2.859 has a NOTE that reads as follows: For horn wire service requirements on 1940-42 KA, KB, AG, AH,BG, BH, cut 1847835, 45 inches long and add one terminal, Part No. 200086.

I could not find the 1847835 wire or the 200086 terminal. Group 2.819 confused me even further.

Apparently the 41, et al, must have a terminal and a wire soldered to the bearing. devil

Any thoughts?

My 1929-42 parts book has a note in Group 6.521 that says "for horn wire see Group 2.859." Group 2.859 shows the horn wire for 1941-42 as part #266218. Apparently back in the day you had to buy the bearing and wire separately. Thankfully, today's replacements already have the wire soldered to the bearing.
