Hello! With all the crazy things going on in the world lately, I've had some time to start working on a project of mine.
Its a 1932 Chevrolet Phaeton right hand drive manufactured by Holden. It was in the process of being restored when I purchased it and I am ready to start putting it back to original. The only tag I can find on the body is an aluminum tag on the front left floor board.
It reads:
Holdens
Body 447
Model Chev Tourer
Series 1X
Job# 3502

I've searched all over the internet and information regarding these cars is very hard to find. Can anyone advise me to what exactly I have?

Thanks!

Your 32 Chevrolet phaeton seems like a Standard series that were made in 1932 with total production 4,479 cars from 31-33 years made that year for the Tourer! Also they did not make those years a Master series car!
Your lucky to have that I’d plate on your front left floor board as most of them got lost from rotting out wood floors!
My 1934 Chevrolet Holden Standard Sports Roadster had no floor id tag and I only have the title VIN # MRxxxxx with the ”˜M’ means Standard ”˜R’ means Right hand drive!

Awesome thanks for the info!
Any idea how to tell from this which options the car might have had or maybe the color?
I have a copy of an original brochure and it list both a suburban tourer (looks somewhat plain, no bumbers and painted windshield posts) and a club tourer (shows bumpers and more nickel) but thats just based off of the drawings.

From the information I can find GM-H had a fire in the records department around mid 1590's so not much is available from there. Jack39roadster on VCCA chat has a reasonable archive so he may be able to help you.
If you look at the left frame rail vertical face around where the LHD steering box would exit the frame rail you may find a number stamped there (that is the number Aus uses for registration).

Thanks for the advice!

I reached out to jack39rdstr and we was a wealth of information.

Some of what I learned from him:
GM-Holdens manufactured these vehicles in Woodville, South Australia.
Job number 3502 represents a touring car.
There were two series of touring cars available:
The Suburban Tourer (represented by 1X on the body tag) was the basic series. It had black painted windshield posts and imitation leather interior.
The Club Tourer was the "fancy" version with chrome plated windshield posts and leather interior.
All tourers were equipped with a spare tire on the back. The doors on the hood were painted body color (chrome was not an option). The bumpers were two bar style with bumperettes in the rear. The only top color available was grey.

Hope someone else finds this info as helpful as I did!
