Was the Original tail light on a 1940 chevy 1/2 ton On the Left or right?
The venders have a number of types. What is the correct one? Chrome, Black or.... ?
Anybody have a used Original one?
Did the original come with a license plate holder?
If not, where did the license plate go?
Originals are always appreciated....

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
Your original tail lamp was on the drivers side. The license plate bracket was also part of the lamp bracket. The lamp would have been painted black and most likely had a chrome plated rim for the lens. I think most original GM parts are better quality than the reproductions and I think it is good that you are looking for an original before considering a reproduction. Keep in mind there are zillions of period aftermarket lamps also, so try to find a GM unit if possible. I MIGHT have a nice original GM lamp but it is doubtful that I have a suitable bracket.

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. Let me know about the light. I’ll keep looking for a bracket... one part at a time.

I’m also looking for bumper brackets, front and back as well as the bolts that hold the top of the handbrake (parking brake)

Again,

Thanks,

Mike

Try emailing Mr.Bob Adler of Adler's Antique Autos. Bobadler@nycap.rr.com . Mr. Adler tends to have many 1/2 ton parts within his several acres parts superstore. Good luck
