I put the new pump in when I was building the engine last summer. Seems it lost pressure as the engine ran over a few weeks. Something came loose or clogged I think. The pump is working enough to fill the oil filter though. But I'm sure not content with the 7 pounds it puts out going down the road. Roger

My thoughts are the crap in the pan cause the pressure relief valve to hang-up.

In an earlier post I suggested the same point that Gene noted. There is dirt holding the distributor valve open.
Even though it is a new oil pump it would be the second place I would check. By now probably some of the crap in the pan is stuck in an inlet passage or has made the relief valve in the pump stick open.

Valid points from you two. I'll follow that those considerations as soon as I can. Next couple of days will be spent smoothing hog holes in pastures. They were busy this winter. I'll let you know what I find. Regards, Roger
