Further down in the forum you will find Tech Talk. Inside you will find an entry called "School is in Session". Spend some time with the flip book entry for some very interesting info about 4-cyl engines.

Also search for a fellow by the name of Dean in CA. He also has some very useful info on the 4-bangers.

For specific questions, come on the Forum and post them. You will get help.

OH! and welcome aboard.

Hi Ken,

I also welcome you to the VCCA's forums. This is a great place to get answers to your questions and hob knob with similarly diseased individuals. ;-)

Great looking car! Cool bikes too.

Ray's 'School is in Session' is a great document about rebuilding a Chevy 4 cylinder engine. His rebuild was a first class, top notch build by a Master Mechanic.

Three years ago, I rebuilt up a '28 engine for my truck Lurch (see the links below for more about Lurch). This was my first voyage of this kind and I documented my journey here: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/426496/1.html

Between the two, you'll get a good idea of what you are up against. Come back often with questions and photos.

As Ray mentioned, some of the features of this web site is for VCCA members only. Some of the benefits of belonging to the club are:

  • Getting an award-winning monthly magazine (the Generator and Distributor)
  • Being able to post photos on the VCCA server and have them show up in your posts
  • Being able to use the forums' Search Function to find discussions from the past on topics that you are interested in
  • A large list of Technical Articles in the Members Only section of the main web site
  • And many more.

Keep us posted on your adventures with your new toy!

Cheers, Dean
