Have a 1960 corvette with 3 speed transmission. The transmission has been rebuilt twice, different folks... still leaks, any suggestions would be appreciated leaking from seal at the body and tail shaft and rear seal at tail shaft (sure my terminology is not correct) one thing I noticed was it was not painted, not sure that is factor. Was also wandering about drive shaft, if yoke is a issue. thank you Dave

The yoke could be if it has a groove in it although I never seen one that bad. Transmissions were not painted. Make sure the retainer on the front of transmission is on correctly. It has a notch that needs to line up with a hole in the case for oil to drain back into the case. Also the gasket needs to line up with notch.

I would suspect the U joint yoke is causing the problem. Along with the above suggestion it could be the expansion plug in the center of the yoke.

If the splines are worn on either the yoke and/or output shaft that will allow those parts to move around so much it will leak past the rear seal.
