Hi-
I last contacted this Club to help with verifying a VIN on a 1954 Chevrolet 2 door sedan- That purchase did not work out.
I have continued my search for a V8 conversion 1954 Chevrolet and located one in PA-
The Body Style is 54-10370 Body Number M 2147 Trim 318
The car is a 2 door hard top-
Can anyone help decipher the vin-
Much appreciated

Those numbers appear to be off the body tag. The serial number tag should be on the left door A-pillar.
In official or legal terms the manufacturers did not start using what we call a VIN until 1980. That is what makes the title process so messy for these older cars. Most state DMV computer systems are looking for all 17 characters in a very defined sequence.
In some states the engine serial number was used on the title instead of the serial number. If the engine was replaced then the title no longer matched the vehicle. Another sticky situation
