have 3 steering columns for my 35 Standard Coach. Each one has a different number on it. Can someone tell me the difference and which is correct for my car? Thank you for your help. They all say Saginaw Gear along with the numbers in the pic.
The 260367 is the housing casting number. To complicate it further if I read my book correctly the 35 coach body was used both on a 34 DC chassis and 35 EC chassis. Your model number should be either a 35-1201 or 35-1201A. If you know the model number then the correct assembly part number can be determined but other components will need to be identified to correctly ID the assemblies.
That would mean a 35 Std body on a 35 Chassis and the steering gear part number is/was 262694. The housing number listed above was used on steering boxes from 31-36 . Gene may be able to tell us a way to identify but even with my parts book I am not able to. The main components seem to be the same for 33-35 except for the part that bolts to the main box and fits over the output shaft. Check to see if there are any numbers on that part. I am guessing that is what mounts the box to the chassis. Yours should be part number 262695 casting number 262696.
