I am trying to identify if the 3 speed trans in my 1937 1/2 t p.u. is a '37 or if it was replaced. I ordered a new tower repair kit from Carter (bushing and spring) but does not look like my tower. The spring is bigger than my original and will not fit. I tried to find what year my trans. was, but found no info. The # on the casing is 590874. Thanks for any info. you can give me.

The case is for a 1937-1939 three speed truck.

honkie,

Gene is correct. I checked the case number in my 1929-1950 Chevrolet Parts Book and it lists in Group 4.103 Case, Transmission 1937-1939 ALL COMM 590874 (cast) Part No. 590875.

Perhaps you received the wrong parts. Seems so. dance

Best,

The Carter book says it fits '37 to '47 3 speed floor shift. I will call them and ask questions. Thanks for the responses. Is it possible that the trans tower is from something else? Is there a # on the tower? I will check tomorrow but I don't remember seeing one.

Thanks again

The parts book says the spring fits 1937-1947 3 speeds.
