Should have copper cables (spark plug wires)...cuold be too much restiance if you have a resistor type spark plug like a R45as the R means it is a resistor plug..

I have a 35 std which has a similar engine. There was a metal sleeve between the carb and the intake manifold. It sometimes is not installed and I did not miss it. The car developed an erratic miss at various speeds and I changed everything I could think of. After years I removed the head for some reason and found pieces of that ring at the end of #6 cylinder in the intake manifold where it had been acting like a shutter when it vibrated into the right (or wrong) position and caused the miss. The piece is preserved to show how hard it is to solve some misfires

Ok then. I think you need to check the small wires coming off of the coil and down to the distributor side and through into the distributor housing. I had one that the "eye ring" connector had loosened from where it crimped onto the small wire. I gave it a tug and could feel it "give" until it would catch on the connector. This loose connector caused it not to get proper electrical power. One other time I had a wire that had good insulation on the outside but the wire inside had broke. Work your way down the wire giving it a tug between your hands. The "weak" spot will cause a stretch in the insulation because there is a break on the inside of the wire. The build up you are seeing is due to an intermittent electrical flow of power.

Update on the master. It was the float height that was causing the missfire and stuttering. Checked everything several times and cleaned the carb 3 times before I checked the height. So it had changed in only 400km of driving after complete rebuild.
Adjusted the float height and no problem after that. ????
