I'm in the process of restoring a 1937 Chevy 1/2 ton pick-up. Steering box is complete but the steering column has been cut. Looking to replace with original or as close to original , maybe a 1946? need steering wheel also. I see they are reproducing the 1946 steering wheel. Where can I find a shaft and jacket? Will and aftermarket column except an old steering wheel.

Welcome to Chatter
I too am restoring a late 37 truck, if your column (and shaft) have been cut the repair will neccesitate replacing the steering worm and shaft as a unit. I have seen these advertised somewhere (possibley The Filling Station, Jim Carter Trucks or Chevs Of the Forties) but as I didnt need 1 I only scrolled past it. As for the mast jacket I would expect they would show up at a salvage yard or ebay.
I think the 46 will be the same style as the 37 but may not interchange

Find and adapt a 1941-1946 steering gear if possible. It is a much improved unit and the later steering wheel will te fit.

Thanks for the quick replies. I do still have a steering box with the worm gear, it may be a much newer one maybe a 1958 as I've discovered the rear axel is a 1958 and frame adapted for a chev 350 engine, previous owner also had attached a much newer column from a Buick . All removed and a 1958 , 235 engine with a S10 , T5 transmission installed. Will start looking at salvage yards and eBay.
