The body man that is helping me get the sheet metal for primer on the 41 cabriolet I'll be selling ask me if I had a "build sheet" for the car.

I told him that I didn't know what he was talking about.

He said it was a plan for how the car went together, or words to that effect.

I told him that I would ask the guys here on the Chat.

So, has anyone ever head of such a thing and, if so, how can I get one.

Thanks in advance,

Charlie computer

I’m not sure what year they started but my 72 Monte Carlo had one on top of the gas tank, under the back seat and I think there was one more. They were what followed the car down the assembly line and showed what options were to be installed. I think they may have started in the 60’s, I’m sure someone will let us know for sure what year they started using them.

They didn't have "Build Sheets" in 1941 0r1951. The closest thing to abuild sheet backthen wasthe sheet stuck on the right windshield that listed such things as ship to dealer,, keynumbers, options and asssemlby date.

In 1950 and up the sheet was pink if car had Power Glide. I have the sheets from my new 1955 and 1957.

Hi Charlie,

Hope you are enjoying the holidays!

Perhaps it would help him to have this manual.

Does your body man mean a 1941 Fisher body manual like this:

https://www.ebay.com/i/143482127151?rt=nc&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D1f064ccbc3624ab786e33b4cdb4519e8%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D10%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D160479643193%26itm%3D143482127151%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2386202

There is a few of these on ebay

That sheet metal service manual linked to above is a great resource too

Thanks Rusty and VR,

I think that's what he had in mind.

I'm gonna order one.

Best,

Charlie computer
