I pulled the drums off the rear of my 1932 chevy confederate, I found that there was only two shoes on each side. Was there to be another shoe for the emergency brake? I have a Chevrolet six manual . It does not go into much detail on the brakes, If there was to be another shoe, I am guessing it was removed and thrown away. Does anyone have a pic of what the set up is to look like?

Thanks

Try an internet search "huck mechanical brake" . It should bring up a photo of 1933 chevy brake on Chat but I could not locate on this site. The shoe set up is similar if not identical and it uses four emergency brake shoes. Do you have any of the external brake activation parts such as hand brake lever-pull rods-relay lever-brake adjusters-cross shafts?

I have the hand brake along with all the levers and rods. I just noticed that there was only two shoes on each side. When I look at the from camber that should activate the emergency works, But it appears that there has to be a shoe there. If those are missing, where can I get the shoes and internal parts to put it back together, I think the emergency brake is a must,

Thanks

Thanks to all that has posted. This will get me on the right track to getting the car back up and running. The pic gives me more of an idea of what is missing. I will need to make sure the emergency brakes work.

Thanks again

There is a fellow up North of us who has a 32 rear axle left over from a hot rod conversion. I was going to contact him about picking it up. I just wanted the axles/spider gears out of it. I do not know if it is early 32, or late 32. Would you be interested in helping with purchasing it for the brake mechanicals? The brakes won't fit anything I have. Art

PS It is not the same person in parts for sale forum.
