It looks great but I would be a little leery about the drive gear as it appears to have some wear and pitting. I may have one that is better-would have to check as I do have a couple of "parts distributors'.
I would not be concerned with the minor surface pitting on the gears. It might wear some in the next 10,000 miles. There is lots of oil splashing around where this mates to the gear on the cam.
Forgive me in advance for restarting an old thread- @BearsFan315, I’m in the process of rebuilding the original 633g on my Dad’s 1930 AD, and I’m trying to figure out where to purchase the distributor insulator that mounts to the large hole on the distributor and connects the external condenser to the ignition contact point set. Couldn’t find it on either The Filling Station or Hagans.
Looking online I can only seem to find them for tractors, and it looks like the interior shielding piece protrudes waaaay to far past the housing wall.
Detour If you are looking for the barrel shaped insulator that goes into the hole in the side of the distributor, I make them. They are a critical part in the rebuilding and installation of the electrolock ignition switch assembly.
he also does the rebuilding when he has his machine running, Junkyard Dog rebuilds them as well, as he is the one that rebuilt mine since his machine is running, and he could test/validate it. did a super job as you can see. i am still waiting for my engine to get back from the engine shop so i can put it all back together !!
These guys are listed in the Generator & Distributor Magazine as Tech Advisors, may of us call them specialists :) especially on these older Chevrolets.
