Are the running boards on a roadster shorter than say those on a sedan? have been looking at a roadster but for some reason the running boards have been folded up about 2 inches in the back. Also looks like the front sub rail extensions have been cut? Trying to figure out whats going on with this car before I consider making an offer.

By your Chat name I am thinking 1931. If that is the case the running boards are the same for all passenger models. If the running board supports have been cut there may also be other alterations. I suggest careful inspection by someone that is familiar with those cars to understand what you might be buying.

Take Chipper's advice, something doesn't sound right.

What year? Could it be something like a 31 body fitted to a 30 chassis? The 31 had a 2" longer wheelbase. Check the running gear.

Never thought that someone would put a '31 Roadster body on a '30 chassis. Another possibility is '31 running boards on a '30 Roadster. They look the same but are 2" different length. Measuring the wheelbase and checking other changes from 1930 to 1931 could tell what happened.

Does anyone know the wheelbase measurements for a 1930 roadster or 1931 roadster or where I can find them online? Thanks again!

My 29-32 Master parts Price Book list the wheelbase as 107"for 1930 and 109" for 1931.

If you ask why they are like that, they should tell you. If not be aware why they won't answer your questions. As if there were ANY alterations. That way you will know what you are getting into. The running boards are obviously not for that car. What else is different?
