Discovered vacuum leak at center port between intake manifold and head. A rough check shows about a 15 thousands gap on the center of the manifold and a good flat surface at the head . Should I look for a machine shop in the Buffalo area or should a good gasket seal it ?

I would get the manifolds surfaced.
When you do assemble both inlet manifolds together loosely then tighten to the head the tighten the manifolds together, remove as a unit and get them machined together. That way everything is going properly aligned.

I agree with tonyw on doing it the right way but I had a similar problem that was also going to require removing the head which I did not want to do right away. I read about Remflex gaskets on the AACA forum and tried one on my 39, 216 and it stopped the leaks. My leaks were exhaust.

The gasket was expensive but I am very satisfied.

Thanks guys . The other question that I have is : Do the manifolds need to be together to machine or do they do them separately . Thanks again !!!!

Like Tony said above, machine them both together as a unit so the surfaces are identical with each other.

In theory the head is straight so the manifolds need to be machined as 1 to make them straight as well, or you end up with what you already have.
