Hi I'm looking at 1931 Chevy 2 door sedan. It will definitely need a new interior. Are there places to purchase kits to restore the interior. I purchased a kit from classtique when I restored my model a. Thanks for any help.

There was a company that built interior kits. They filed bankruptcy and are being liquidated. The Chevrolet assets were reportedly purchased by SMS in Oregon. It is not known if they will expand their business to include Chevrolet interiors. The material should be available from SMS or other suppliers and local auto upholstery shops should be able to duplicate the interior.

Thanks for your help. I'm not very familiar with the things that may go wrong with the Chevys. I was told to look for wood rot where the doors attach. Are there places to get replacement wood parts? Thanks again for any info.

Look for rot everywhere especially at the main sills, around the soft roof and rear kick-ups. I'm sure you will find some. A good time to check is when the interior is out.

There are several vendors for replacement wood for these cars. The wood is expensive and may have a long lead time. If you do a search on this site, you can view lots of discussion about the various suppliers. Try searching for "Autowood", "KC Wood", and simply "Wood" using the blue search function above and you'll learn a lot.

All the Best, Chip

Right now your best chance on getting wood is probably KC as Bill just got in a tractor trailer load of ash. He told me he was making up truck wood within the next few months but if he’s in the production mode and has an order, you’ll probably get it within 6-12 months if the pieces you need are out of stock. Classic produces wood quickly but can be hit or miss as the patterns they have are not always correct. If they are not correct, they will let you return them I believe. ALWAYS ask for no holes drilled when buying any woodfrom classic as I’ve found every single drilled hole to be wrong even when the wood piece itself is totally correct.
