I have a 1946 Chevy pickup and am putting on a new wiring harness (after many years apart).

How can I tell which terminal is the A and which one is the F terminal for wire connections.

An A or F may be stamped on the generator or field terminal is closer to engine and armature is towards fender.

I looked for a stamped letter on the housing but there are none. There are 3 terminals. one of which has a decal marked with this statement "do not connect to this terminal"
The others, 1. is a screw and is in the middle of the generator, 2. towards the back of the generator is a stud connection , Both of these are in line front to back of the truck, neither is closer to the fender or engine.

I believe this generator was installed when the 1959 engine was installed, still a 235.

I have a 12 volt Delco generator on my truck and it matches Gene's description.
