Hi all, I am a newby and an Australian. I have recently acquired a 1948 Fleetmaster. I need to replace the front seal. The pulley has a crank handle socket on the front of it so no bolts etc.

Are they just pressed on or is there a secret to getting them off?
Appreciate any advice you can give

Tony S

It is pressed on and a puller is necessary to remove. Installed with a big hammer and do not pount on the outer area....I use a large pipe and keep the pressure of pounding on the area around crank handle socket.

This is a good topic for doing a SEARCH of our old posts. Use the search terms +harmonic +balancer and the Display Name Mike Buller Or Chev Nut. Attached are some pictures which update the process mentioned in the posts.

Good luck, Mike

I use an impact gun on the puller. The shock of the gun tends to help the pulley to move out.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
